BIOGRAPHIES
Charlie Corum is the pastor of the South El Monte Community Outreach. In 1980 he started Olive Branch Outreach in Rosemead where he was pastor until 1997. Charlie is an ordained Baptist minister and served as a community ministry consultant for the California Southern Baptist Convention from 1999 to 2014. He also has been a chaplain with Pacific Youth Correctional Ministries since 1995. He began the Youthful Offender Resource Network in 2007 which provides services and activities to Los Angeles County Probation youth camps and juvenile halls. Charlie grew up and lived in South El Monte from age 7 until he was 20 years old. He returned to his childhood city to start a community-based outreach ministry and congregation. On August 13, 2012, the Lord opened the door to begin the ministry with a Visual Bible Study at the Ramada Inn South El Monte. On February 5, 2013, the Bible Study moved to Dean L. Shively School on Tuesdays at 7 pm. SEMCO began Sunday services in English (July 2014).
Jim Hitt is the Associate Pastor of SEMCO and leads our Spanish Outreach and Bible Study on Wednesdays at 12 noon. He and his wife Mary have been with SEMCO since 2018 and Jim was ordained in 2020 at SEMCO. Mary assists with SEMCO's Children's Ministry. Jim is a graduate of BIOLA and Veritas International University and he and Mary lead our Weekday prayer time at 9 am, and Children's "Kid Cast," on the SEMCO Facebook page at South El Monte Community Outreach.
